New two way bridge to entrance Quepos
26 April, 2016Those who have to travel to Quepos in the coming months should note that the route through the bailey bridge leading to the center of the city will be closed until the end of the year.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) announced this morning the start of work to build a concrete bridge with two lanes and sidewalks, which will replace the bailey bridge one lane is now a bottleneck for vehicular traffic arriving to Quepos. For this reason, we recommend to use alternate routes.
In the case of light vehicles, they should take the intersection of Junta Naranjo (National Route No. 34 Inter-American South), enter through the secondary road No. 235, until you reach the intersection with LOLO bridge, turn left on the bridge to finally enter the center Quepos. Drivers of heavy vehicles and buses will take the crossing at Junta Naranjo to the national route No. 34 (South American), reach the intersection of La Managua (near the hospital) and turn right on route No. 235 (Las Palmas).
These will be the way to cross the city and continue, for example, to the Best Western Kamuk Hotel & Casino.
According to the statement of MOPT and the National Highway Council (CONAVI) for this month, the activities to be carried out will be the placement of signage for drivers, the movement of machinery, disarmament of the existing bridge bailey and demolition of the stack and bastions of existing concrete.
It is expected to complete the construction of the bridge in December.
